LYKKEBOX
music player for a Swedish pop artist
In collaboration with Teenage Engineering
Bachelor thesis project | 2014
Background
LYKKEBOX was designed & developed in collaboration with Teenage Engineering for the Swedish pop artist Lykke Li.
In connection to Lykke Li’s latest album, additional music material was to be released later the same year in form of a music player that could only play this material specifically.
Project Description
The main scope of this degree project was to develop a music player from an early concept to a manufacturable product.
This concept was inspired by Hindu and Buddhist “mantra boxes”, or “chanting boxes” – simple and cheap audio players that play one or more pre-recorded mantras, chants or prayers through a built in speaker.
Note: This project was carried out by Ali Safa and Patrik Binkowski

Inspired by the "Mantra box", fans would be able to buy Lykke Li's new album in the form of a music player that could only play this material specifically. The product would offer added value for the users and serve as collector's item.
